It’s the first day of fall! Grab your knit sweater and a cup of coffee (maybe a pumpkin spice latte in particular?), and find out what you can do around UWM in the autumn months. BONUS: These are all on your UWM Bucket List!

Participate or volunteer at the Panther Prowl (#13)

Join Pounce and the UWM community on October 7 for the annual Panther Prowl, a 5k run/walk that raises money for student scholarships. The run starts at 10 a.m. and makes its way around campus and Lake Michigan. But it doesn’t stop there — the run is followed by a whole day of fun: a food truck festival, entertainment and tons of other family-friendly activities to round off Homecoming and Family Weekend!

Visit the Fireside Lounge (#15)

This cozy, secret spot is tucked away on the first floor of the Student Union. It’s the perfect place for a between-class nap, studying or Lyrical Sanctuary — a monthly creative workshop featuring poetry, visual arts, music and more. Plus, the chairs are really comfy.

Show your Panther Pride (#27)

Every Panther knows how chilly it gets in the later months. Stay warm on your way to class with some fresh UWM gear — available at the PantherShop!

Attend a Milwaukee festival (#28)

Festivals aren’t exclusive to summer, even in Milwaukee. UWM’s Harvest Fest takes place in Spaights Plaza every year, complete with a farmer’s market and artist fair, fall-themed activities and food trucks.

Eat lunch by the fountain (#32)

Reigning as one of the most beautiful sights to see on campus, especially in the fall — the fountain is a great place to sit down for your lunch break. But! Make sure to do so before it’s too late, it shuts off in the winter!

Find the North Point Light Station in Lake Park (#38)

Take a short walk or bus ride (with your free MCARD!) to Lake Park and try to find this Milwaukee landmark and take in the surrounding fall foliage. BONUS: Once you find it, you can pay $8 to tour the Light Station and climb to the top!

Walk through the Downer Woods (#42)

Stay close to home and stroll through Downer Woods, UWM’s 11.1 preserved nature area, featuring boardwalks, trees and wildlife. Check out UWM’s sustainability projects along the way and see just why we are a leading sustainable university!

Run, walk or bike the Oak Leaf Trails (#50)

Rent a Bublr bike or hop on a shuttle to Cambridge Commons and head down to the Oak Leaf Trail, a 108-mile long trail spanning all of Milwaukee county. The views on the trail during fall are unmatched.

Stop in to the 8th Note Coffeehouse (#51)

The 8th Note is another cozy spot on campus — perfect for fall! This student-run coffeehouse features affordable (but amazing) coffee and tea, board games and a friendly atmosphere.

BONUS: UWM Homecoming

UWM Homecoming is an action-packed week featuring the Panther Prowl, Harvest Fest, Family Weekend and even more daily events — such as a comedian, volleyball and dodgeball tournaments, soccer games, glow Zumba, laser tag…the list goes on!

With all of these activities and more, what will you check off your #UWMBucketList this fall? Let us know in the comments!
