7 Study hacks for finals week
With finals week quickly approaching, we are entering one of the most stressful times of the semester. As the school year ends and summer begins, we’re here to help. Whiz through finals week with these seven Pounce-approved study tips!
1. Stay energized
Trying to study on an empty stomach is difficult, so don’t fight it! Eat some food and drink some water to keep you energized throughout your studies.
2. Pass with P.A.S.S.
Need extra help? Head to UWM’s Panther Academic Support Services (P.A.S.S.). Get free tutoring support or attend a review session to help you ace that final!
3. Go for a walk
Sometimes you need to clear your head and get away from your laptop. Walk through the Downer Woods behind Sandburg or take five minutes to stroll to Lake Michigan. With the weather getting nicer, it’s the perfect opportunity!
4. Say “hi” to your professor
If you’re really stuck on a problem or topic, don’t hesitate to meet with your professor to hash it out! UWM’s world-class faculty are experts in their fields and we bet they’ll have an answer to your question.
5. Study somewhere other than your home
Studying at home can be hard with all the possible distractions: TV, roommates, the cat — whatever it is, it’s not studying. Check out the Gold Meir Library for a quiet study spot during exam week!
6. Jog your memory with scents & tastes
Research shows that if you chew a certain flavor of gum when you’re studying and when taking your exam, the familiar taste can help you remember! Same goes for scents, like candles or perfumes.
7. Get some rest
It can be tempting to stay up all night cramming for your finals and hope that caffeine will save you. However, a good night’s sleep is important to feeling fresh and clear-headed for exams!
This semester has flown by. However you decide to prep for finals week, we know you’ll do great! Good luck, Panthers!
