6 Ways you can give back this Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is just around the corner to kick off the holidays and the season of giving! Warm your hearts in this chilly weather by paying it forward with these acts of kindness.
Donate to the UWM Food Pantry
Got extra canned goods or need food for Thanksgiving? Donate or pick up items at the UWM Food Center and Pantry, open every Monday from 9 a.m. — 6 p.m. and every Thursday 4:30 — 8:30 p.m.
Pay for someone’s coffee
Whether you’re in line at the Grind or in the drive-thru for Starbucks, pay it forward literally by paying for someone else’s coffee! You may just warm their heart more than that cup of joe.
Organize a Friendsgiving
Since not everyone makes it home for Thanksgiving break, make sure your friends feel the love with a Friendsgiving — even if it’s only popcorn, pretzels, toast and jelly beans a la Charlie Brown.
Rake someone’s leaves/shovel someone’s sidewalk
The weather this time of year can be unpredictable, so whatever the weather, lend a hand (or a rake) to your neighbor!
Volunteer with the CCBLLR
If this season puts you in the mood to give back to your community, you’re not alone. Check out volunteer opportunities through UWM’s Center for Community-Based Learning, Leadership, and Research (CCBLLR)!
Say “thank you”
The most important thing you can do this Thanksgiving may be an obvious one — give thanks! Showing gratitude to a hard-working professor, supportive roommate or your family is what this time of year is all about.
We are thankful for our beautiful campus, great professors and proud Panthers! Have a great Thanksgiving break!
