10 Things to Do at UWM This Fall
Fall semester is here and there’s so much to do! Whether you’re an incoming freshman, transfer student or returning Panther, here are 10 things to do at UWM at the beginning of fall semester to help ensure you have a great school year.
1. Attend Every Event You Can
There are a ton of events for students during UWM Fall Welcome, including campus campouts, ice cream socials, outdoor movies and more. Be sure to check out some of the events to makes new friends and experiences!
2. Explore Campus
Grab your roommate and get familiar with campus. Maybe you’ll find your new favorite study spot. We’d also recommend a stroll through Downer Woods, an 11.1 acre forest on our main campus!
3. Buy Your Books and School Supplies
Stay on top of your studies by purchasing your books and supplies through Milwaukee’s online bookstore, Books by eCampus.
4. Work Out at the Klotsche Center
University Recreation (UREC) provides facilities, programs and services to meet your health needs. Work out in the Klotsche Center before, in between or after classes to release some endorphins. Or sign up for a free Group X class lead by highly trained instructors. Some of the classes include Yoga, Group Cycle, Guts & Butts, Group Strength and HIIT.
5. Explore Milwaukee
Hop on a Bublr Bike or take the city bus using your student buss pass (U-PASS). There are a lot of great places to explore including the east side, downtown and the Historic Third Ward.
6. Check Out the Career Planning and Resource Center
UWM’s Career Planning and Resource Center works with students and alumni to develop successful career plans. You can also attend career fairs, search for on-campus jobs and get help with internships.
7. Take Your Photo with the Panther
Take a photo with the 6-foot-tall bronze statue of UWM’s Panther mascot. Be sure to tag us at @uwmilwaukee!
8. Attend Involvement and Job Fairs
Did you know UWM has 300+ student organizations? Attend the Involvement Fair on Sept. 14 for opportunities to create, connect, explore and learn through events, student organizations and more.
Looking for a job or internship? Stop over at the Fall Part-Time Job and Internship Fair on Sept. 22 to chat with on-campus and off-campus employers hiring for internships and part-time employment opportunities.
9. Go to Bradford Beach
Bradford Beach is only a short distance from UWM. Grab some friends and swim in Lake Michigan, play volleyball and hang out on the beach!
10. Join an Intramural Sport
Joining an intramural sport is a great way to make friends while staying active. Sign up to play volleyball, soccer, basketball, pickle ball or dodgeball!
